For as long as I can remember, I've shared a birthday with my brother.
He's two years my senior, and we were both born on October 13th (one of the best days of the year in my opinion).
When I tell people that I have the same birthday as my older brother, they are like, "Omg, that's crazy. Didn't you hate that as a kid?" I respond with... "No." Because I wasn't a selfish asshole (I was an asshole, but not a selfish one).
I actually really enjoy sharing my birthday with him. It means I never forget his birthday, and he rarely forgets mine. My parents make a bigger deal of the day, because it's extra special.
How could they not love it? Their favorite child (me) was born to compliment and better their life, after their first child was already semi-gracing their life. That's pretty cool.
There is one downside to sharing a birthday with your only sibling. Read on.
Here's the best and worst thing about sharing my birthday with my brother (the title wasn't just false promises and click bait):
- Best thing: You never forget your older brother's birthday.
- Worst thing: People make comments about your parents sex life.
Happy belated birthday, David!
FYI I'll be writing more soon. Many life updates to catch you, my biggest fan, up on.
